Ownership CO2 5.0kg Gas Bottle (Supplied Full)
Is CO2 suitable for your application?
The primary purpose of shielding gas is to prevent exposure of the molten weld pool to oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen contained in the atmosphere. The reaction of these elements with the weld pool can create various problems, including porosity (holes within the weld bead) and excessive spatter.
Different shielding gases also play an important role in determining weld penetration profiles, arc stability, mechanical properties of the finished weld, the transfer process you use and more.
Key Features
- Most common of the reactive gases used in MIG welding and the only one that can be used in its pure form without adding an inert gas
- Least expensive, making an attractive choice when reducing material and operating costs is a priority.
- Holds 5.0 kg of CO2, which provides approximately 10 hours of MIG welding (time based on a gas flow of 8/10 L/minute)
- Provides a slightly narrower bead and deeper weld penetration than CO2/Argon Mix (which is a mixture of CO2/Argon).
- Better for dirty, coated or rusty materials
- Cylinder has a type 30 fitting
- There are outlets in most New Zealand towns or cities that will refill
